City of Millwood
The community of Millwood was first settled in 1846 by Drury Anglin. He named the community Millwood after a lumber mill on his land. At the time, the settlement consisted of only two homes, a general store and a blacksmith shop. The settlement was located at the foot of a 30-foot inclined wheel, which was an important landmark as it provided footing for eight oxen to walk.
The community is well-served by public transportation. Capital Metro bus routes serve the area and there are three bus stops in Milwood. Aside from buses, visitors can also rent a car or take the cab. There are also many restaurants and bars in the area, such as Little Woodrow’s Parmer, a local favorite with a patio, and Riata Neighborhood Park, a lovely lake view, tennis courts, and nature walks. In addition to the area’s many parks, Milwood Texas has a small grocery store, a local Starbucks and a local wine bar. The area also has many restaurants, including a couple of places that serve burgers. Other restaurants include Veracruz All Natural, which is known for its tacos, and Copper Restaurant & Dessert Lounge, which offers desserts.
Millwood Texas is also home to one of the most popular CrossFit gyms in the area. Bat City CrossFit is located in the McNeil Crossing plaza on Parmer Lane, and provides traditional workout classes, as well as the occasional HIIT session. Millwood is also home to a 134-bed mental health facility, which provides inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment. The facility is also part of Universal Health Services, Inc. It is located in Arlington, Texas, and is within a 35-minute drive from DFW International Airport.
The city is also known for its many parks, including Hunter’s Chase Park, which offers a variety of recreational facilities including nature walks, sand volleyball, and tennis courts. There is also Yett Creek Park, a relatively undeveloped forest area with trails perfect for hiking and a little bird watching.
