Rockwall
The area was originally occupied by Caddo and Creek Indians, and later by Anglo-Americans. Rockwall was first platted in 1854, and the village was officially established April 17, 1854. It remained part of Kaufman County for several years, but it became a separate county in 1873. The first post office was moved to Rockwall in 1855. In addition to its numerous parks, Rockwall is home to three major golf courses.
The Rockwall Museum is located in the oldest residential building in the town. The museum houses a vast collection of local artifacts, including the Rockwall Rock Wall. The rock wall has been excavated and mapped in 11 locations. However, no one has yet to excavate the entire formation. Rockwall, Texas is also home to Hemisphere Brewing Co., a brewery that has been in operation since 2012. Its signature brews include Hula Girl Coconut Blonde Ale and Straight Dope India Pale Ale. In addition to its signature brews, the brewery also offers a dozen different options for customers.
In the 1980s, Rockwall was considered a “small town,” compared to Dallas. However, the population grew significantly, mainly due to the construction of Lake Ray Hubbard. In 2000, Rockwall had 17,976 residents. In 1988, Rockwall had 5,939 residents. During this time, the county had two-thirds of its workforce in service and real estate. The community also has many parks, including Lake Ray Hubbard Park, which is home to several water sports, such as kayaking, swimming, and water skiing. It is also the home of the Rockwall Farmers Market. It is held every Saturday from May to September. Rockwall County is home to the University of Texas at Dallas, the Wells College of Texas, and the Rockwall High School. The school district is also home to five five-star rated campuses. Some of the county’s schools also offer a full curriculum for students who wish to complete high school early.
Rockwall is considered the most progressive community in the Dallas metroplex. Many of the county’s residents enjoy the benefits of being close to Dallas. It is also located on Interstate 30, which provides easy access to many of the area’s attractions.
