Rockwall

Located on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, Rockwall, Texas is a charming community that has plenty to offer its residents. Rockwall is the county seat of Rockwall County, and it is ranked as one of the top five counties in the state in terms of population growth. Rockwall County was named for a mysterious rock formation that is located in the county. The rock formation has been excavated since the late nineteenth century, and it has been discovered in eleven different locations. However, the formation has never been completely excavated. A few of the outcroppings are beneath Lake Ray Hubbard, while others are above. Some of the pale stones are separated by a 1- to 2-inch layer of sediment.

Rockwall County also has a number of parks and green spaces. The Harry Myers Park features three ponds and hiking trails. The Yellowjacket Park features playscapes for children. Throughout the year, downtown Rockwall hosts a number of events, such as Shop Small Saturday after Thanksgiving and a Spring Fling in March. Rockwall ISD has grown in recent decades, and now offers students in the county a number of excellent schools. It currently has 19 campuses, and one alternative school. Rockwall is home to numerous parks, including Harry Myers Park, which features a beautiful lighthouse. The park also has a series of walking trails and playscapes for children. There are also several trails surrounding Lake Ray Hubbard. The lake itself spans 22,000 acres, and offers boating, fishing, and hiking opportunities.

The Rockwall County Historical Foundation Museum has a map that depicts the locations of 16 outcroppings throughout the county. It also includes photos of carved corners of an ancient settlement. The museum also has a number of artifacts that illustrate the history of the county.

The Rockwall County Extension Program is managed by the Rockwall County Leadership Advisory Board, and serves a diverse population. The program’s mission is to encourage people to educate themselves. Its programs include the extension program, extension classes, and the extension library. There is also a program that serves people with disabilities.
