Rockwall
Rockwall was established in 1854. The town was founded along the National Road of the Republic of Texas, which ran from Red River to Peters Colony. Elijah Elgin donated forty acres to help establish the town. In 1873, Rockwall became the county seat. The town’s population grew in the late 1800s, as farmers from Blackland and Heath, Texas moved in. Rockwall became a business center for the farmers.
